In high school, I used to make poem packets (often disguised as love letters) for long-distance friends as a way to keep in touch with them and share what I had been reading lately. I wanted to have some kind of free zine to give out at Chicago Zine Fest 2025, so I decided to create these "self-portrait" snapshots via poems and excerpts that I continually return to. The poems and excerpts in Lighghtness are meant to be torn out and posted to fridge doors, pinned to desk corkboards, or taped into journals; the hope is that they will, eventually, travel beyond the bounds of the zine's stapled form. |
